6 CR

Welcome to 6CR’s Webpage!

We are 6CR: a class full of kindness, enthusiasm, and curiosity! Together, we always strive to do our very best. We absolutely love learning, and each day brings us exciting opportunities to deepen our understanding of the world through a wide variety of subjects and experiences offered at our school.

“Our class is amazing because we are all so kind to each other, and we get to do lots of incredible things.”

In Year 6, we are very lucky to have lots of passionate and knowledgeable teachers working with us. Our class teacher, Miss Rowden, leads us during the mornings and some afternoons, and we’re lucky to have Miss Attewell supporting us as well. Alongside them, we also learn from several other teachers based at our school, including teachers who are specialists in their subjects; we are incredibly fortunate to have teachers who are passionate experts in what they teach!

“I love how supportive everyone at our school is. There’s always someone ready to help when you need it.”

An Exciting Year Ahead!
As we step into our final year at Theale Primary School, there’s so much we’re looking forward to! Here's a glimpse of what we’ll be learning.

Every morning, we begin with collective worship or class worship, followed by English, spelling, and maths. In English, we explore a range of text types—fiction and non-fiction—using reading comprehension, extended writing, and grammar exercises. Our daily spelling sessions also help us master tricky spelling rules and irregular words. We love challenging ourselves to use new words in our writing each week.

In maths, we’re fortunate to be guided by either Mrs Parsley or Miss Rowden. This year, we're focusing on reasoning and problem-solving tasks, diving deep into different mathematical concepts. We’re working through the curriculum, and every day we grow more confident and skilled!

“I feel so lucky to have a beautiful classroom to learn in. It’s such a great environment!”

Specialist Learning from Amazing Teachers
We have the privilege of learning from various subject specialists every week, many of whom have vast experience in their fields.
“I’m so lucky to have lots of teachers. They’re so kind, and they always help when I’m stuck!”
On Mondays, we alternate between history with Miss Rowden or PE with specialist coaches who help us improve in a variety of sports.
Tuesdays are all about creativity and reflection. We either dive into art with Mrs Lockhart or explore religious education (RE) with Mrs Bradbury. As a Church of England school, we study Christianity alongside other world religions, learning to recognize the similarities in their beliefs. We will also be learning Japanese with Mrs Dobashi every week which we are really looking forward to.
Wednesdays are super exciting, as we build life skills with Mrs Parsley and then practice French with Madame Bastable. By the end of the year, we hope to be writing paragraphs in French!
Thursdays bring a touch of magic to the week with Performing Arts! We have music lessons with Miss Rowden and are currently learning about music across the ages, which we also enjoy during collective worship. On top of that, Claire teaches us dance, and Carrie guides us through drama. Both are experts in their fields and play a huge role in preparing us for our end-of-year production at the Hexagon Theatre in Reading.
Fridays are packed with fun learning! In the mornings, we will complete our usual maths and English activities, alongside participating in either choir, outdoor education or philosophy for children sessions on a rotational basis. After break, we get to be part of a Gifted and Talented group which further enriches our school experience. In the afternoons, we explore science with Mrs Jones or geography with Mrs Parsley, followed by computing which is also with Mrs Jones, where we’re excited to sharpen our programming skills.

“We have so many fun opportunities, and we get to do lots of cool things in class!”

In Year 6, we’re growing into independent and resilient learners. We’re working hard to become confident and successful young people, fully prepared for the exciting journey ahead as we move on to secondary school and beyond!
