2/3 LH

Welcome to Samba class! We are a class of Year 2 and 3 children and our teacher is Mrs Hearn. Together we make up a friendly, happy and hardworking class. Every day is busy – full of a wide variety of lessons and subjects.

“I like this class because it is tidy and beautiful.” Aarvi

Our day starts with registration and Culture Connoisseurs (where we learn about music, art, vocabulary, poetry and significant individuals), followed by assembly. Every day, we go into our maths and English groups with the one of the 2/3 teachers: Mr Cooper, Mrs James or Mrs Hearn. In English, we explore stories, poems and non-fiction texts, and develop our writing skills and, after break, we improve our problem solving and number skills in our maths lessons.

“I love maths. It’s so fun.” Shahaan

In the afternoons, we enjoy learning from a number of different teachers, who teach us a range of curriculum subjects: history, geography, science, computing, art, life skills, outdoor learning, RE and French. We are particularly fortunate to have Mrs Lockhart as our specialist art teacher and Madame Bastable teaching us French.

“I love science because you find out new things.” Ivy

“I really like art because I like using my imagination.” Samuel

“My favourite lesson is computing because you use technology.” Jacob

On Wednesday afternoons, we get active with our PE rotation including physical skills (such as balance, speed and agility), outdoor sports and gymnastics.

“I really like PE because we do a lot of running.” Rocco

On a Friday morning, we are taught a range of performing arts: dance by Claire, drama by Carrie, and music by Mr Morley. These sessions help us work together, explore movement and rhythm and develop our confidence in performing in front of an audience. We also learn violin (Year 2) and guitar (Year 3) to broaden our musical knowledge and experience.

We’re excited to think of all the things we’ll learn and experience this year and we look forward to putting them all into practice.

“I like this class because it helps me learn.” Carys

Thank you for taking the time to read about everything we do at school!
