4/5 RD

A warm welcome to the Opera Class page! We are a cheerful, lively Year 4/5 class whose curiosity knows no bounds! We are a class of writers, mathematicians, philosophers, artists, scientists, musicians and keen sportspeople. There's never a dull moment in Opera Class!

Our teacher from Monday-Thursday is Mrs. Dobashi and Mrs. Urquhart is with us on a Friday. Mrs. Brice and Mrs. Butler hear us read and help us to learn in our classes.

Zak  "It's fun reading my book to grown-ups."

We begin each day with reading, and enjoy learning about music, art and literature in our cultural focus sessions.

Zoe  "I like being able to choose any book from the class bookshelves."

After morning assembly and celebrations, we go to our English group with Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Price, Miss. Pullan or Mrs. Dobashi/Mrs. Urquhart. We read the most wonderful books in English and are all working very hard indeed on our handwriting.

James: "I enjoy writing stories in English."

After playtime, we move to our maths groups with one of the teachers above for an hour of marvellous maths.

Rosie: "I like doing addition in my maths group."

Refuelling at lunchtime is followed by time on the playground with friends, then we head back into the classroom for our afternoon lessons. On Monday afternoons, we have History or Art. On Tuesday afternoons we have the exciting rotation of French, Steel Panning and Life Skills. On Wednesdays, we move our bodies in PE in week 1 and learn about religion in RE in week 2. On Thursday afternoons, we have Science in week 1, and Geography and Computing in week 2. Friday mornings are always fun: we do some maths and English before having Gifted & Talented sessions, Recap & Remember sessions or choir. We express ourselves in our Performing Arts lessons on Friday afternoons.

Perry: "PE is great because I enjoy sport and trying different sports."
Emily: "I like Outdoor Ed because we get to connect with nature."
Amna: "Art is a great way to explore colours and paints."

This year, Year 4 children will go to Ufton Court for their residential trip while the Year 5s will enjoy a fun project at school.

At the end of each day, we come back together in Opera Classroom for story time. A calm, united end of the day is brought to a close with goodbyes at the door.

Emmelyn: "Relaxing with a story is a good way to end the day."
