Meet the Team!
In Encore, we are super lucky to have Mrs. Parsley guiding us through most mornings and afternoons and we work closely with the amazing Mrs Jones who teaches the other Year 6 class, Finale. But the fun doesn’t stop there! Miss Hunkin works alongside us, making sure we’re always feeling supported and ready to take on new challenges. Plus, we have a whole team of other specialist teachers who pop in with their own passion for subjects like art, French, PE, science and more. There’s never a dull moment when you’re learning from people who really love what they do!
A Glimpse into Our Day 📅

Every Morning kicks off with culture connoisseurs before collective worship to start our day together, followed by English, spelling, and maths. Our English lessons are packed with challenging activities like reading comprehension, extended writing, and mastering tricky grammar rules inspired by our brilliant core texts. We even challenge ourselves to sneak our new spelling words into our stories!
Maths time is a brain workout! We’re all about solving real-world problems and becoming fluent in arithmetic, and our teachers – Mrs. Parsley and Mrs Jones– keep things fun and engaging with lots of challenges.
What Makes Encore Unique? 🎨⚽🔬
Every week is filled with exciting lessons led by specialist in their subjects. Here’s a snapshot of our week:
🔬 Mondays – We alternate between History with Mr Gauld and PE with our coaches, building skills in sports like gymnastics.
🎨 Tuesdays – Time to get creative with either art led by Mrs. Yendley or computing and geography. By the end of the year, we’ll be pros at programming – watch this space!
🌍 Wednesdays – We prepare ourselves for life in Modern Britain during life skills and dive into French with Madame Bastable, practising our conversational French. In life skills, we even hold elections to learn about democracy whilst engaging with our fundamental British Values.
🎭 Thursdays – The spotlights on! Our performing arts lessons are a whirlwind of music, dance, and drama, with our expert teachers Miss Lynch, Claire, and Samantha, which prepares us for our end-of-year production at the Hexagon Theatre.
💻 Fridays – We round off the week with either Science where we dive into the world of experiments and investigations, or RE. We explore not just Christianity but also a range of world religions, finding the common threads between them.

Year 6 is all about growing into independent, resilient learners. We’re preparing for the next big adventure – secondary school – with confidence, skills, and memories that will last a lifetime. From our residential trip to Osmington Bay, exciting trips and Year 6 SATs, we’re gearing up for whatever comes next!
