4/5 FS Opera

Welcome to our Year 4/5 FS Opera Class!

We are a friendly and hardworking group who enjoy sharing ideas and working together to achieve our goals. Miss Smith is our class teacher, supported by the wonderful Mrs Benford, and throughout the week we also learn with several other teachers who bring their own strengths and enthusiasm to our lessons.

Each morning begins with reading for pleasure and culture connoisseurs, followed by collective worship—sometimes in the hall with the whole school and sometimes in our classroom. English and maths are taught by Miss Bowskill, Miss Smith, and Mr Gauld, and we enjoy working alongside children from other classes as it gives us the chance to collaborate with even more friends. In English, we explore new techniques to make our writing engaging and practise spelling and handwriting so our work can truly shine. In maths, we focus on problem-solving and building strong number fluency.

Our afternoons are full of variety, with specialist teachers guiding us through subjects such as geography, history, French, art and DT, life skills, and steel pans. Their expertise helps bring each topic to life, and we love discovering new things with them.

Fridays are a real highlight. We begin the day with either choir rehearsals, outdoor education with Mr Gauld, or P4C with Mrs Jones. After break, we join our Gifted, Talented and Enrichment groups to develop skills in a range of areas, and we finish the day with music, dance, and drama—always an enjoyable way to end the week.

“I love learning dance and all of the fun drama games!”

We have so many exciting opportunities throughout the year, and we can’t wait to see how much we continue to grow and flourish together!
