Religious Education

Why study RE?
“Religious education has an important place in the curriculum of all schools. It provides a space for learning about people, about cultures and faiths and also relationships, tolerance, understanding and appreciation of others’ beliefs and values.” (The Pan-Berkshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education 2018-2023)

The study of religious education with children helps to develop the children knowledge and understanding of Christianity and in some cases, not just Christianity but also other religious cultures and other belief systems (Itulua-Abumere, 2013). The rationale for RE teaching RE is a vital and powerful way of teaching the children how to understand the evolving world around them. Religious education is vital when it comes to giving the children the knowledge and understanding to support them in their life journey where they will interact with people from different communities and cultures in a respectful way. Through our RE curriculum, we aim to develop the children socially, emotionally and culturally.
