FS2/1 LH

Welcome to our class! We are a class of Year 1 children and our teacher is Mrs Hearn. Together we make up a friendly, happy and hardworking class. Every day is busy, full of a wide variety of lessons and subjects.

Our day starts with phonics learning our 42 sounds which we can then apply in both reading and writing. Our English lessons explore stories, poems and non-fiction texts, and love to have a go at writing. English is followed by our healthy snack time and outdoor play in our fun-filled FSY1 garden.

After break, we enjoy using different resources to develop our problem solving and number skills in our maths lessons.

“I love maths. It’s so fun.” Maja

In the afternoons, we enjoy learning from a number of specialist teachers, who teach us a range of curriculum subjects: history, geography, science, computing, art, life skills, outdoor learning, RE and French.

“I made an e-book with sound and moving.” Dominic

On Monday afternoons, we get active with our PE rotation including physical skills (such as balance, speed and agility), outdoor sports and gymnastics.

On a Thursday morning, we are taught dance by Claire, drama by Carrie, and music by Mr Morley. These sessions help us work together, explore movement and rhythm and develop our confidence in performing in front of an audience.

“I enjoy art and making things.” Sebby

Thank you for taking the time to read about everything we do at school!
